Excellent book. Not sure why I have delayed reading this series for so long but I really enjoy this one. Coming to Pride to attend her brother's funeral, Megan Kimble might just have found the perfect place to hide from her abusive ex husband. The town is nice, the people warm and welcoming. It's a place she can feel safe in. A great well written story I highly recommend. ( )

Extended Review on The Review Board

Strengths:

A. Easy to read–One of the things that I liked about Finding Pride was the fact that it was easy to follow. Some books that are lengthy (this one is close over 200 pages) can be a challenge for some readers to get through, but Finding Pride was not one of them.

B. Style–Jill does a really wonderful job for setting the style for a small town like Pride, Oregon. None of the details were overdone, and it really does represent what a small town is like.

C. Action–It was nice to see the action pick up. I was wondering at what point would the ex-husband play a factor, which was closer to the end of the book, although I was looking for it more towards the middle.

Opportunities:

A. Proofreading–I noticed there were a few errors in punctuation (some missing, some misplaced). I also noticed that the ex-husband’s name spelling changed halfway through the book, so I had to double check to make sure it was the same person or if there was a new character introduced altogether.

B. Too predictable–I knew that ultimately Todd and Megan were going to be together, but there were little to no surprises. It was as if everything was planned. There was really no competition to throw Todd off track or any of us off track in thinking he may not ultimately get Megan.

C. Pacing of the Love Story–At first, the pace was just right, indicative of a woman who’s been through abuse and a guy who is trying to take his time. Then, it became a bit accelerated. The point where Todd asks Megan to marry him throws me off a bit, but once Megan shuts down, it gets the pace almost back to where it needs to be. It also took me off guard after the ex-husband’s attack that Megan becomes the one who pushes for marriage. I understand she’s shaken up but it makes her bold enough to want marriage. This, I am uncertain, but it does serve to put a happy ending on the story.

For those who love a good, predictable love story, Finding Pride is definitely in the running. ( )
