This is a "connections" kind of book -- event A led to event B which led to event C, which weirdly led to event D.... etc. A nice concept but it didn't quite work as well as I wanted it to. ( )

Why the Chicken Crossed the Road demonstrates cause and effect. At the beginning when the chicken crosses the road a chain of events occurs that eventually leads the readers back to the original action. I really loved the funny story and the pictures tell the story so well that word are not always needed. ( )

This fun book answers an old question that everyone has always wondered the answer to. The author does a good job at keeping each page as exciting as the last. Every page I turned, I noticed the hectic illustrations accompanied by a crazy situation that led to the next page. The unlikely events such as a man being rolled up into an Oriental rug create a very humorous tone to the book, which was enjoyable. I enjoyed the language that was repeated frequently throughout the book such as, “Which is why…” Language like that could help children understand cause and effect, because every single page has a prior cause with a subsequent, obvious effect. Overall, I enjoyed this book, as I think many children would as well. The author was successful in their attempt to create a humorous book that answers this age-old question. ( )

The chain of events in this story was pretty clever. Cute story and fun illustrations. ( )

Very well thought out book on how the chicken crossed the road. It shows how the event of a chicken crossing the road can cause such tremendous turn of events. The wording is for an older age group then just Kindergarteners. This is a great book to read out loud to chidlren and have them be very interactive throughout the story. ( )
