The hero can't have the heroine, to begin with she's too young then later there are other issues which I won't reveal so as not to spoil it. But in the meantime he is a manwhore. I really didn't like him and I have trouble believing he cared so much while he slept around so much. Texas Wide Open is a combination boy/girl next door romance & a second chance at love romance. Katie is the only child of a vet/rancher. Cole was the typical boy next door. What was't typical was losing both parents young & working hard under the helping hand of the man next door to make something of himself. He has feelings for Katie but she is too young to act on them. At least in his mind. In her mind, there is nothing stopping them and she is constantly underfoot. Forward to present time & Katie's father has had a heart attack & she comes home from college to take care of him. The chemistry between Cole & Katie is still there & as hot as ever. This is the first book I've read by KC Klein & I really enjoyed it. The tone of the story jumps back & forth between the past and current time but after I was used to it, it just added to the flavor of the story. The tension & jealously between Cole & Katie built throughout the entire story & came to an explosive conclusion. The descriptive narrative helped me to picture the ranch & its inhabitants in my mind. I really enjoyed this book & can't wait to read Jett & Nikki's story. I already have a picture in my mind of what Jett looks like.... I'm not sure why I finished this book, since usually I would have just stopped. But since I did finish it, I'm giving it two stars. I read a lot of new adult, which is pretty angsty, so when I say that the angst in this book drove me bonkers, it was bad. Beyond that, though, there were a couple of other things that bothered me. One was that the book took place in Texas, but I have no idea where in Texas. As a Texan, I like having a general idea of where books in this great state take place. The author really didn't develop the local flavor (so to speak) at all. The other thing is probably fairly nitpicky, but the devil is in the details: in Texas you can't get married without a marriage license, and you have to get one in order to legally be married. When you do get a marriage license, you have to wait 72 hours before getting married. A simple Google search will get you this information, and one of my biggest pet peeves is when authors don't do their research (or if you're going to bend something like that for the sake of the story, at least acknowledge it). aucune critique | ajouter une critique

HTML:Katie Harris loved growing up on a ranch. She had her horse, the beautiful Texas prairie, and Cole Logan, the cowboy next door. But there are a lot of secrets hidden under a Texas sky. . . Katie was always sure she'd marry Cole Logan someday--until he kicked away her pretty dreams like so much horse pucky. So she wised up and moved to the big city. And she was happy there. That is, until her daddy got sick, and she found herself back on the wrong side of Cole's corral. Cole knows Katie doesn't want anything to do with him. But after so many years, he can't pretend she's no more than a neighbor. Not when thinking about her cherry lip gloss and hell-for-leather passion is keeping him up all night. Holding his ground was hard enough when she was seventeen. Now that she's her own woman, Cole's heart doesn't stand a chance. . . "Passionate, gritty and fast paced. . .with a hot blooded, honorable hero to make every woman's knees go weak." --Diane Whiteside "A tortured hero, a love that defies distance and time. . .this is a book you won't soon forget." --Cat Johnson 81,000 Words.
