The Big Book of Rescue Vehicles is about the strongest, most powerful rescue machines. This book describes every part of each rescue vehicle and what each part is responsible for. The book describes fire trucks and airport fire trucks, which carry six times more water than many other fire engines. Heavy rescue trucks have equipment for saving people and snow rescue vehicles have a powerful motor and they are used for saving people in the snow. Ambulances are like mini hospitals and mountain rescue vehicles are used for rescuing on hillsides. Fire-fighting planes are used to put out forest fires. The book also describes rescue helicopters which are used for rescuing people from mountains and seas and all-weather life boats help people in trouble at sea. Inshore lifeboats are used to help people in danger close to shore and rescue hovercrafts are to rescue boats stuck on shoals. Fireboats are used to put out fires on boats or near the shore. Each vehicle has an important part of rescuing someone or something in danger. Children, especially little boys would be surprised to know how many different rescue vehicles there are. I didn’t even realize there were this many. I recommend this book to grades 1-5; it is very informative and descriptive about all the parts of the rescue vehicles and what they are used for.
