I just couldn't get past the first 5 chapters. This did not keep me engrossed, I just could not connect or empathize with the main character. ( )

A sequel to Notes From the Underbelly, Lara has had baby Parker and is having trouble adjusting to motherhood. I could relate to some of what she is going through, although of course she gets a nanny so she has her days free while here in the real world, most people have to suck it up and deal. I really liked the side-plot of Lara's father coming back after abandoning her for eight years and loved his fiancee, Nadine. Funny and worth reading, although I often wished I could reach through the book and smack Lara. ( )
