I used this commentary as a reference recently as I preached through 1 Peter. I spent seventeen weeks preaching from Peter's letter and after the second one this commentary became my most favored resource. Schreiner does excellent exegesis and continually brings out real-life understanding that a pastor can use in the pulpit. While a scholar, he does not show any hesitance in pointing out the weaknesses, and even errors, in the work of other commentaries. He does not do this out a sense of arrogance over his own work, but from a deep desire for all scholarly and pastoral use of his commentary to be biblically informed above all else. Schreiner aims to have the text be clearly understood, and clearly applied, for Peter's letter speaks as strongly to our times as it did to the times in which it was written. I only read the 1 Peter section of the book but I presume the sections on 2 Peter and Jude are of similar quality. I highly commend this commentary. ( ) aucune critique | ajouter une critique
