A wild ride in more than one sense, this story might have confounded and confused me (time travel tends to do that), but it also amazed me. The world of slipstream travel comes alive in this story, and the characters are interesting and quirky. By the time you add in a grossly misbehaving computer personality, you've got the ingredients for one wild ride. Tom is captain of a ship that has had is share of trouble. Between a volatile relationship with his copilot, Briak, and his need to stay away from the overly regulative PADCom authority, he is shocked to discover some truly strange slipstream effects that interfere with the sooth running of the ship. He is devastated when a freak accident kills Briak, but that is only the beginning of his real problems. In the frantic attempts to get his lover back, and willing to risk everything, even totally illegal time travel, he encounters some strange phenomena and even stranger people. If you like sci-fi stories with a few mind-bending twists, if the idea of time travel and even time renegades doesn’t scare you, and if a wild adventure is what you are looking for, you will probably like this book. NOTE: This book was provided by Dreamspinner Press for the purpose of a review on Rainbow Book Reviews. 73 pages. Sci-fi at it's best in this fast paced novella. Captain Tom is still mourning the loss of his co-pilot and lover to a slip-stream accident some weeks ago when he begins to suspect that Briak is still with him in some way on the ship and is trying to send him signs of his presence. This felt like a perfect prequel to a longer story and I certainly hope that is the case. Great read! aucune critique | ajouter une critique
Spaceship captain Tom lost copilot and lover to a slipstream accident, but he refuses to accept Briak is dead. As he loses himself to his obsession, his ship begins to exhibit technical glitches and personality traits not normal for a shipboard computer. It gets worse as Tom finds a new pilot and decides to manipulate the slipstream to go back in time and stop the accident from happening. But if Tom can't figure out the problem, the space-time jumps may tear the ship--and his dreams of reunion with Briak--apart. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |

Yes, of course I want more...when do I not, but unlike a lot of other shorts, this one didn't leave me with an unsatisfied feeling. It was very well written, edge of the seat kind of story telling that isn't easy to find.
Of course I wouldn't say no to a continuation of this story though... *bats eyelashes* ( )
