I never knew that such a thing as Asterisk existed before I read this book. Wow. Who knew that instead of adopting a bloated proprietary telephone system for your home or office, if you had the time and hardware resources, you could set up your own with all the same bells and whistles you’re used to with your regular PBX, and some other stuff that regular PBXes either dream of providing, or charge you an arm and a leg to provide.

Wow!

This book, while not ideal for casual reading, is indispensable if you are looking into setting up a powerful telephone infrastructure on your own. The authors take you through most of the exciting features of Asterisk, allowing you to slowly, but surely, realize that this is one of the most useful computer programs you will ever come across.

If you are going to travel down the path of setting up your own PBX, I highly recommend Asterisk. If you are going to set up Asterisk, I highly recommend this book. ( )
