This audiobook had all the bada** elements of a great action movie. There were falsified diamonds, high speed chases, murders, kidnapping, and a ton of other adventures packed into this book.

Katerina is a fantastically strong character. When she first takes the case to study the possible fraud at Liberty, she doesn’t think her discovery will land her in such danger. However, once she learns the truth, she refuses to give up, going so far as to risk implicating herself and her Uncle Harry in the fraud just to keep the money out of the hands of the wrong people.

I absolutely adored her strength though I have to admit that a few parts of the book had me laughing. For example, when Katerina decided to steal one of the CEO’s trash and got into a scuffle with a raccoon, I was giggling furiously.

All in all, this is a fantastically sound thriller with lots going on and fantastic characters. I will definitely be continuing on in this series.

Follow the money.
Never get complacent.
Blood diamonds are cursed.
Forensic accounting is waaaay above my pay grade, and I wouldn't even know how to follow the kind of money trail that's in this book. But reading it is a different story, the suspense just kept building! Even when I realized that I was in over my head, I just couldn't stop and research like I usually do because I just couldn't put it down! A real thrill ride.
The narrator extraordinaire is Petrea Burchard and she adds to everything. ( )

Exit Strategy by Colleen Cross and narrated by Peters Burchard is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary. This has suspense, a mob boss and his daughter to deal with, illegal diamonds, kidnapping, murder, and money laundering! I did learn a lot about illegal diamond trading too. This was a fast paced, with constant on the go action and adventure that I had to listen to all in one sitting. Can't wait for more in the series! Great characters and excellent plot.

The first in the Katerina Carter series, Cross introduces us to forensic accountant Katerina Carter, who goes above and beyond to solve what turns into international crimes.

Thought not be to be smart enough to uncover the truth, Carter is hired by Liberty Diamond Mines to find five billion dollars that went missing, along with Paul Bryant, the company’s Chief Financial Officer. Unfortunately for the criminals, Carter is not as stupid as they believed her to be.

Although spots are bogged down with what I felt were unimportant details, the intrigue and suspense kept me reading, not to mention the fact that Carter herself became a target. While trying to follow the money from accounts in Canada to Cayman and other countries, Carter is deceived by those she thought she could trust, is kidnapped and almost killed.

Cross took me on a wild ride involving Carter’s personal and professional life, her own financial despair and a McBarge. That’s right…a McBarge. You have to read it to find out what I’m referring to. A good book to read during an uneventful, relaxing weekend.
