Some good biographical glimpses of the boxers and commentary on their fights but very heavy on the management side of their careers. It also becomes annoying as it goes to great pains to show that Liston was not the insensitive thug as so often portrayed. One or two anecdotes to that effect might have been convincing, but repeating it multiple times diluted the effect of the argument. This was particularly true when he would get arrested or cheat on his wife. It also tended to undermine the case that Liston was anything more than a criminal who happened to make some headway with his fists. Interesting in spots but often ponderous as well.
