The prosecutor called it a crime of greed: the wealthy heiress and her nurse, murdered by the destitute son-in-law who was anxious to get his share of the vast inheritance. It was a complex, intriguing murder case, set in the mansion that is now one of Minnesota's top tourist attractions. But you won't hear much about the Congdon murders on the official tour of the Mansion. This book guides you through Glensheen with newspaper reporter Joe Kimball, the expert on the case. Kimball has covered every aspect of the story for more than 30 years. Secrets of the Congdon Mansion is essential for visitors to Glensheen and anyone interested in one of Minnesota's moss celebrated murder cases. - Back cover. As for the subject matter itself, this is such a strange story and it feels like it is taken out of a Law and Order episode. As for the Glensheen Mansion itself, I've taken the tour a few times and had friends were tour guides (who were told not to talk about the murders at the time), but I didn't know much about the crime itself - only that it happened.
