Not as much violence and misogyny as you would normally expect, which I appreciated. ( ) The first book in Avallone's Ed Noon series starts off like gangbusters as the tough talking, wisecracking, private detective is hired by an Amazonian woman (the title character) to find her runaway fiancee. Pretty soon the bodies are piling up and Noon realizes all is not on the up-and-up. There are some great scenes along the way, but about 3/4 of the way through the coincidences and implausibilities start to pile up. The end of the novel keeps up the wisecracks, but the pleasure of the plot has worn out. This is only the second Avallone book I have read, and it is much much better than the first, which was written much later. That book read like something written by a writer with less than a full set of marbles. This one, however, despite not sprinting all the way to the finish line, still makes me look forward to reading the next book in the Ed Noon series. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
