Her writing glows." --Amanda Quick "You will LOVE the Pennyroyal Green series." --Julia Quinn A notorious lady learns just how wicked a good man can be in the latest installment of RITA Award nominee Julie Anne Long's emotionally charged Pennyroyal Green series. A Notorious Countess Confesses is absolutely unputdownable historical romance for fans of Karen Hawkins and Sabrina Jeffries; another gem in the bestselling series set in Regency England and centered on a long-standing feud between members of two wealthy Sussex families, the Eversea and Redmond clans. The best in the series so far- best opposites attract romance (but are they really?). Loved the FMC- so real and unrepentant. The pain of the love story often brought me to tears. The love demonstrated in the final chapter is unsurpassed in this series.
Tempted to give this one a 5- will depend on a re-reading bc there seemed to be an unanswered question- some mystery in Adam’s past that he is afraid to have known. This was mentioned in prior books as well. Perhaps I read this too quickly and missed the answer. So a re-reading is needed.

WARNING: The next two books in this series will make you wish you were illiterate. ( )

Brilliant installment in this series. Even the sappy happy ending went okay. ( )

I was really digging this right up until the last couple of chapters. The tension was phenomenal and both protagonists were super likable (although Adam verged on too-perfectly-perfect). I generally steer clear of historical romances with sex-workers because I find it very, very, difficult to believe in the HEA, and this particular book ended with a little too much of the bluebirds-and-rainbows-and-puppies for me. Overall though, a fun-and-sexy read as long as you don't mind the utterly unlikely ending.

(Are there going to be books for every Redmond, Eversea, and assorted cousins and friends before we get to Lyon and Olivia's story? Jonathan's is coming out in a couple of months, I assume Ian will be getting his own, and if the trend continues, at least 2 unrelated Pennyroyal denizens will get their own books too. This is getting a little ridiculous.) ( )

I like both leads and feel like they really got to know and appreciate the other for who they are. Which I appreciate. JAL portrayed the sweetness and longing of their relationship well. I especially enjoy stories like this where a new person comes to town and isn't accepted right away, but gradually makes things better for everyone. (Think Chocolat). It makes the ending so satisfying. ( )
