James McMillan is a third generation owner of the most prosperous horse ranch in Golden, Colorado. When a gorgeous little filly shows up at his door waving what she claims is the deed to half his ranch, James tries to send her packing. But the document is authentic, according to his lawyer: Reese McMillan sold the little opportunist his half of the Double M during a poker game in Atlantic City. So not only must James find a way to buy those shares back, he needs to fight his growing attraction to his luscious new business partner-who turns out to be a lot more than just a pretty face.Angela Roberts has never wanted anything more than the security of a real home. Her dreams come true when the chance to own half of a Colorado horse ranch falls into her lap. If Reese McMillan is too blind to appreciate what he has, that's his loss. Only she hadn't counted on the hostile reception she receives from his brother. Surly as a bear, James McMillan is also much too handsome for her peace of mind. I actually give this 3.75 stars. Some of my erotic romance loving friends and more jaded friends who love to read romances with kink and lots of sex may disagree with me on this one...but hey a review is one's opinion of a book....SO this is MINE...More often than not, when you get a $.99 book, well you get tons of errors and so, so writing. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of Golden Opportunity. GO is a cute, short book, more of chick lit type book. It's the first book I've read by Donna Marie Rogers. I see tons of potential in Mrs. Rogers writing style, it draws me, so much I've put another of her books in my Mount TBR.What I love about Golden Opportunity:James is a cowboy, he's definitely an alpha, he's caring and affectionate, but doesn't trust women. Angela is a strong young woman, she's had a rough life and decided to work hard to make her life better than the one she had while growing up. Although a bit naive, Angela takes no crap off of James, there are some cute "awww" moments in the book. I loved Meara, James' long time housekeeper/surrogate grandmother. I love how James fell so hard for Angela and he is quite a hot lover. What didn't work as well for me:James and Angela fall in love in two days, which is too quick for me, I wanted to see more of how the relationship develops between James and Angela, more fights, more luvin' (however it's a novella so I understand the need for quick). James forgave his brother Reese way to easy and quickly. For a novella, the pacing is most likely acceptable, but some of you have seen me post before that I try to stay away from novellas because I always seem to be disappointed because I don't get to know the H/h like I want to and I don't get to witness that bond and relationship form that I need, so keep that in mind when considering my review. All this being said, I will be watching for James' brother, Reese's story. And hopefully in his book we will get to see more of Angela and James. This is a great quick beach read or book you need to make you smile and give you a warm fuzzy feeling. AND it's a steal at only $.99 on amazon =)Check out more of Naughty D's reviews at http://wtfbookreviews.blogspot.com/ ( )
