Chargement... Are We Nearly There Yet?: A Family's 8000-Mile Car Journey Around Britainpar Ben Hatch
![]() Aucun Actuellement, il n'y a pas de discussions au sujet de ce livre. Ben Hatch doesn't really need another review for this book. It was voted #1 on Amazon's list this past year. I can see why. For those of you who haven't heard of it, there's a lol moment on nearly every page. If I had to compare it to something, I would call it a modern, non-fiction National Lampoon's European Vacation. Ben takes his entire family, including toddlers, on a trip around Britian while writing a book reviewing hotels and tourist attractions. The family dynamics are hysterical. There are also some tragic moments of personal loss along the way. What amazes me about this author is that he can turn emotions on a dime. You're laughing and then you are suddenly in the midst of deep sympathy for this author. I really can't say more without giving too much away, but this book is worth the $2.99 price on Amazon Kindle. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
If you think writing a guidebook is easy, think again... They were bored, broke, burned out and turning 40, so when Ben and Dinah saw the advert looking for a husband and wife team with young kids to write a guidebook about family travel around Britain, they jumped at the chance. With naïve visions of staring moodily across Coniston Water and savouring Cornish pasties, they embark on a mad-cap five-month trip with daughter Phoebe, four, and son Charlie, two, embracing the freedom of the open road with a spirit of discovery and an industrial supply of baby wipes. With two under four year olds...
Certifiable!
During the journey they have their car written off, he acquires and passes a kidney stone, and tragically loses his father to cancer. But through it all manages not to get divorced, develops and unbreakable bond with his two children.
A good read, and I'm glad that he has done it so I don't have to! (
