I was really disappointed in the ending of this book. I like a HEA and there wasn't one in my opinion. Other than that it was an okay read. ( )

Rock Star's Girl is an entertaining tale that follows twenty-six year old fashion website owner and freelance writer Emily Watts as she gets caught up in a love triangle with two hot rock stars.

Emily has been friends with struggling musician Jesse Cinder for four years, somewhere along the way she has developed feelings for Jesse, but he wants to only be friends. While attending Jesse's band Ashes of Brooklyn's show at a local club, Emily meets Cory Sampson, the lead singer for the up-and-coming rock band Blistering Twilight. Emily's life turns upside when a Hollywood entertainment / celebrity gossip website starts posting articles about Emily and Cory activities. Emily suddenly becomes a tabloid sensation and her fashion website's popularity explodes, and she finds herself having feeling for both guys, but are Jesse and Cory's feelings for Emily true, or is their attraction to her for purely personal gains? So what's a girl to do when she is faced with unexpected media notoriety and two rock stars vying for her attention?

Rock Star's Girl is an enjoyable chick lit tale set in Los Angeles that has enough drama, romance, and trials and tribulations, that easily keeps the reader turning the pages to see what would happen next to Emily and her rock star love interests. I really enjoyed the pop culture references to the LA music scene, and the celebrity gossip and fashion internet industry. What I enjoyed the most was the witty dialogue, Emily's snarky sarcasm kept me in stitches, while the drama surrounding her relationships with Jesse and Cory took me on a roller coaster ride. I have to admit that I developed a love/hate sentiment towards both guys, but I was definitely team Emily as she learned to handle the pressures of the unexpected media frenzy and notoriety, and strived to pick up the pieces of her life. I would be remiss if I didn't mention that I really liked how Emily's best friend Shelby had her back, that's what true best friends are all about!

Rock Star's Girl is a lighthearted and amusing chick lit tale that would make the perfect summer beach read!

Smart female lead character.

Two rock stars... one girl who has feelings for both. Are they after her for her charms or is there something else that is attracting them to her?

She is not a pushover! Totally different ending to any romance novel. Would absolutely recommend to those who want to read about an independent woman fully in charge of her destiny. ( )

I'm quite surprised that this has such low ratings. It's actually a pretty sneaky book that had me pulling at my hair trying to figure out who's real and who's fake. I'm taking a wild guess it's because of the ending that doesn't agree with even my own expectations, but that's why I loved it. It was realistic.

The author makes a good point showing you just how much the rumor-mill can destroy someone's life.

Emily is a wonderful, independent, incredibly smart, and unfortunately a very, very naive young woman. At times I just wanted to slap her, telling her to wake up to the fact that she was being played. But that's the beauty of it, you realize pretty early into the book what's going on, and it's like watching a train wreck, you just can't look away.

I didn't like Jesse just because he was always being flirty and leading her on. The whole restaurant scene in the beginning had even me cringing from humiliation. I loved the way she held herself when it happened and the fact that even after the whole fiasco she tried to make that friendship work. At times I almost believed that Jesse was trying to be a good friend to her. Mostly, however, I knew better.

Cory, on the other hand, I got a little attached to. Yes, he was a jerk after he accomplished what he wanted, but I kept thinking maybe he would redeem himself somehow. I wanted him to be the swoon-worthy hero that realizes the error of his ways and comes back to drive her in his Audi TT into a HEA. And he does. But just remember, Cory is a showman, and he needs his publicity any way he can get it. Just remember that.

It's hard talking about this without giving too much away. I definitely had my idea how the story should end, but the ending took me by surprise. However, it made sense. It's what was best for Emily, and I love the author for going there.
I tried really hard to justify to myself that the story could have ended differently, that she ended up giving in to Cory and that he really did have feelings for her. But no, they both played her, they were both jerks, and she's better off without them. I'm glad she resorted to what she did after being treated like that. I was giddy reading about their downfall.
As for her new beau? I'm hoping it's none other than our own Wally Hood. That's what I believe in and I'm sticking to it.

The author does a great job of showing you LA through wonderful descriptions.
She also writes one of the best best friends I've read, Shelby. She literally makes no excuses for anyone, not even Emily. I absolutely loved her. I loved that Emily never loses the sense of who she is. She may be just a pawn in this grand scheme, but she definitely has backbone.
The story is infused with little tidbits from gossip web-sites that make it all the more fun to read. It flows at perfect pace.
I loved the way it was written and even more so because someone did a great job of editing it for a self-published book.

For those wondering, the book is an incredibly clean read. I don't think I can remember a single sex reference. There's kissing, but nothing else.

This was a freebie in the Kindle store a couple of days ago. I'm sad to say that the cover does nothing for me so I would have probably missed it if it wasn't free. It really has nothing to do with the book.
Either way, it's only $0.99 and it's definitely worth that money! I'm glad I read it. ( )

Emily Watts is the epitome of a RockStar groupie, but not by choice, her friend, Jesse who also plays into some serious confusion on his part as to if they are just friends, or if they are more then that. She's a low-key runner of a fashion website as long as writing editorals for a magazine. But overnight, with the help of lead singer Cory Sampson. She becomes a tabloid sensation and her website and column explode with popularity. Is dating a superstar all its cracked up to be? or will the headlines ruin not only her relationships but her career as well.

I loved the synopsis of this book and knew the first time that I read this, that I needed to read this book. I've always loved music, and has a crush or two on some rockstars of my own haha. I loved the characters, and I couldn't put this book down because I kept wanting to know what would happen next in Emily's life, and like a true chick-lit book, disaster after disaster ensues in Emilys life, as bits and pieces come tumbling down all around her.

A couple things about this book stood in the way for me to give it 5 stars, first is the cover!! while it is very beautiful it looks like she'd fall for a country star not a rockstar, and I wish it had more of a rockstar appeal. Also, why couldn't either Jesse or Cory be a good guy in the end?? I felt like the end left me sad and with so many questions. It lead you to believe that she found a new guy and that she was happy, but the whole book I was rooting for either Jesse or Cory, and was left with nothing.

As always though this is just my opinion and none of this was a deal-breaker for me. I by no means think a 3.5 star rating is a bad thing at all, and when it comes by my star ratings that means a book I really enjoyed but had some elements that didn't do it for me. I think J.F. Kristin is a fabulous writer, and in no way think that what was missing was good writing, because she had me captivated with her words from the first page. If you like chick-lit and rockstars definetly pick this book up!! ( )
