( ) Decent but that's about it. It was pretty bland all in all. I think that it lacked any real tension. It was too long for the amount of story that there actually was to tell. The relationship was fairly calm and everyone was just so nice. I actually enjoyed the small side story of his sister who had breast cancer and her cop boyfriend a bit better than the main story. I just had a hard time caring about the characters. I got a bit tired of everyone remarking all the time on differences between the Australian way of doing something and the American way. It seemed forced and a little bit like a lesson. I received this free from netGalley for review. It was free. It was fun. What else can I say? It also needed an American editor, since much was made of the differences between Australian and American English, but the Australian author still had the American characters think and say things they wouldn't. Overall, though, a pretty good read from an author I'd never heard of. Refreshing, funny contemporary romance. Aussie Matilda heads to Wisconsin, wearing her wedding gown and cake in hand to marry Barry - who's a con man and skipped town with all her money. Marc is in town for his annual fly-by holiday with his family, but when he finds out she's been scammed by her fiancé, he steps in to help out...just a little. His sister is having a double mastectomy, told no one except his teen age nephew & him and HE'S supposed to take care of her post-op? Turns out Matilda's a nurse in Australia - never mind no license, she's hired as the housekeeper/companion for Lori. But her sass, and her knack for charming the locals and starting a business, soon turns his head. It took me awhile to warm up to the story line and the characters in this one but I did. I found the initial premise unrealistic but Matilda grew on me as did Mark. I have to say, I actually liked the side story line of Lori and Brian's romance better and just adored how Brian helped Lori get her self confidence back. All in all, a very nice read. I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

HTML: Matilda Geoffrey had risked it all for love. She'd left Australia to be with Barry--the man who had swept her off her virtual feet. Now, wearing a wedding dress, she's alone on Main Street in small-town Wisconsin, and things aren't working out exactly as planned.... In town for his annual family visit, Marc Olsen had never seen a bride quite like Matilda--staring into a storefront window, holding a tottering wedding cake and looking desperately in need of a groom. He doesn't have many warm feelings for his hometown, but meeting Matilda just as she discovers she's been scammed by her online "fiancé" stirs something in him. Matilda is not the kind of woman Marc imagined himself with, and Marc is anything but the romantic hero that Matilda has always dreamed of. But as unlikely circumstances throw them together, can they let go of their misconceptions and risk their hearts for love? 93,000 words "Boomerang Bride is one of the best romance novels this reviewer has read in a long time.
