"Elorie Shaw, steeped in the traditions of the Nova Scotia witching community, but not a witch. The fetching spell must have goofed this time... or did it? Travel to Fisher's Cove, Nova Scotia, where Moira is matriarch and the old ways are nurtured and passed to the next generation. Where a crotchety old witch makes small children cry and builds walls around the silent pain in his heart. And where Elorie - sea-glass artist, inn owner, and Moira's granddaughter - makes her home. The old magics are strong here. Which is all fine and good until the fetching spell pulls Elorie into Witches' Chat. Because she's not a witch. Or at least not any kind of witch the old ways recognize... A Hidden Witch is the sequel to A Modern Witch, the top-rated book in contemporary fantasy. While each book tells a complete story, you'll enjoy the characters far more if you start at the beginning of the series. Debora Geary is working on several more books expected out in 2011, if the kids don't spill any more water on her laptop."-fantastic fiction.… (plus d'informations)

Such a great book. It was great to follow elorie's journey as she discovered who she really is. It goes to show you that surprises do happen and that life is really great ( )

And another review on one of Debora Geary’s witch-novels (and yes, there are still some more to come, but I’m trying to write at least every other review on something else so it might take some time until I wrote reviews to all of her published novels and stories)! And again, I loved it.
This time the center o attention lies not upon the residents of Witch Central or some stray witch they caught somewhere but on the witching community of Nova Scotia and especially Elorie who grew upas one of the few non-wiches among them. Or at least she thought so until Nell’s somewhat devilish witch-fetching-chat-spell-thingie catches her.
Suddenly Eloise is once more confronted with her childhood “trauma” of never showing any signs of magic. Something she really doesn’t want to handle right now – or ever. So everyone, especially Eloise herself, thinks of the whole incident as some fluke in the fetching spell, but how could there be something wrong with a spell-coding Nell herself created and double checked? Soon the whole witching community is confronted with something entirely new, something that turns their traditions and old believes upside down – and the traditional Nova Scotia is the epicentrum of this magical earthquake.
Well, as I said, I loved it, I loved the new setting and Geary’s special mix of meeting well-known and beloved characters again, getting to know other characters who formerly only acted as secondary characters better and introducing some totally new – but nevertheless awesome – characters.
I could totally sympathize with Eloise, the “misfit”, the girl who was raised to be a witch but never show any signs of having the power even long after the other kids she learnt the witches’ ways with had come into their powers, the one who, though always loved, always felt like an outside and could never fulfill anyones’ – mostly of course her – expectations. And then, when she finally starts accepting that she’ll never be a witch, her powers are found and there aren’t what she ever expected – or wanted – at all.
Once more Geary created a fascinating and captivating story about one woman’s journey to herself and about love, family and friendship, something that seems so real, even though magic is an integral part of the story, that I couldn’t put down the book even once.
Loved it, enjoyed it and can only recommend it! ( )

Very sweet. G or PG rating. I listened to the Audible version. Performed very well.

Lots of things happen, all of it fun and sweet.

If you don't like babies/tots/tweens in your books, turn around and walk away.

I enjoyed Hidden Witch much more than Modern Witch. I'm not real sure why unless I'm getting more involved with the characters. I laugh and cried and can't wait to get my hands on the next book. Another little note On Kindle you tend to get 20 pages of crud before chapter 1. This book didn't I appreciated that. ( )

The second in ‘The Modern Witch Series’ HIDDEN WITCH takes up just after the end of MODERN WITCH. Many of the characters from book one are here, but the story concentrates on the dramas of a different main character – the hidden witch amongst them. You won’t find kick-ass action; neither will the world be in jeopardy and in need of the witchy crew to save it. You won’t see werewolves, ghosts, zombies or any other paranormal critters in this book either. What you will find is an easy to read story of a community of everyday people who just happen to have magical powers. This community of people, both family and friends, magic and non-magic, who love, squabble and support each other, and try to help the world where they can. They are not all perfect, they make mistakes and they are stubborn but they are believable characters. There were plenty of spots where I was laughing at the various activities, others where my heart was in my mouth as I turned the pages to see what happened next. HIDDEN WITCH is a delightful way to spend a Sunday afternoon and if you like modern fiction with a magical twist; then this is a series you can’t miss. I have the next two in the series lined up to go, ‘A Reckless Witch’ and “a Nomadic Witch’ – with Book Five, ‘A Different Witch’, scheduled for Christmas release.
