This book has pieces of primary documents which is such an important piece for 3-4th grades. The recommended age is 4-8, however I believe this book is best suited for 8-11. Concepts from so long ago can be difficult for children, adding picture books helps. This is an informative book about the American pioneers Lewis and Clark. Throughout the story, the reader learns about the successful expedition Lewis and Clark took to the Pacific Coast. We learn about all the people they meant along the way. Some resulted in conflict with Native American tribes, while others were peaceful. I really liked how the back of the book had a timeline. This makes it easy to look back for certain dates. The pictures help bring the story to life as well. Each picture described a part of their journey and I think children would benefit from the illustrations. A biography about both the beginning of Lewis and Clark's lives as well as their well known journey through undiscovered America. Meriweather Lewis and William Clark set out on May 14, 1804 on the Mississippi River and up the Missouri on a journey that would take two years, four months, and ten days, and would lead to great knowledge of the American frontier. Along the way, Lewis and Clark met Sacagawea, along with several other American Indian tribe members. From the Author's Notes in the back of the book I learned that Thomas Jefferson originally asked General George Rogers Clark, William Clark's brother, to lead the expedition west of the Mississippi River. I also did not know that both Lewis and Clark were both officers in the army and that is how they knew each other. This is a great book about Lewis and Clark and their unforgettable journey across America for any and all ages. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
