The author tried a bit too hard to tie the subplots together in some sort of morality tale. It didn't make me want to read the first book in the trilogy - or the next. ( ) I loved The Indigo Sky. Two young people—one dispossessed and impoverished, the other wealthy and privileged—are both on a journey they can't control in this moving novel about family, friendship, and personal freedom. This is the second novel in the Jingera Trilogy (set in the village of Jingera, on the south coast NSW), and again it has a wonderful collection of characters. The characters, plotting and descriptive writing are again brilliant, and the story has a deeply satisfying conclusion. This novels follows on from Stillwater Creek which was a book I thoroughly enjoyed. Indigo Sky, although very readable, was not as interesting as the previous novel with fewer issues being covered. There were resoulutions to some of the dilemmas facing the characters but the novel felt that little bit lack luster in comparison to Stillwater Creek. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
Appartient à la sérieJingera Trilogy (2)
It is the spring of 1961, and the sleepy little town of Jingera is at its most perfect with its clear blue skies, pounding surf and breathtaking lagoon. Yet all is not so perfect behind closed doors. George Cadwallader - butcher by day and stargazer by night - is loved by everyone, except his wife. He only wants the best for his family, yet it's all falling apart. Philip Chapman is a sensitive young boy, a musical prodigy - and a target for bullies. But with his wealthy parents indifferent to his cries for help, his entire future is at risk. Then there's Ilona Vincent and her daughter Zidra, former refugees, now fully-fledged 'Jingeroids'. When a voice from the past reaches out to them, they're soon in a race against time to reunite a family that has been cruelly torn apart... Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
