A comprehensive record of Fos William's career as player and coach in the SANFL competition from 1946 to 1978. Much of the book looks at Williams’ career, which saw him coach Port Adelaide to nine premierships and also his time as a player and coach with West Adelaide. Other chapters look at the successful careers of his sons, Mark, Stephen and Anthony Williams and the entry of the Port Power Football Club into the AFL. Includes selections of Fos Williams’ greatest Port Adelaide, South Australian and All-Australian teams during his time as a player and coach. Being a Port Adelaide man, I eagerly sought this out many years ago. And being a Port Adelaide man, I thoroughly enjoyed "Dynasty" on the great footballer Fos Williams and his children. Non-Port Adelaide fans who like their football will no doubt also find interest in this while non-Australian rules football fans will mostly be lost. Fos Williams was my grandmother's favourite player of all time and so I am naturally drawn to the great man and his story. That story being the rise of a young man from Quorn who goes onto play and coach Port Adelaide to nine premierships and eternal glory. Not content with that, Williams also fathered three sons who went on to play for Port Adelaide, two of whom also coached Port to premierships themselves (Williams' daughter Jenny represented Australia in lacrosse, and then worked on the Port Adelaide coaching staff; you couldn't keep the Williams's away from Port Adelaide if you tried. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
Fos Williams is a legend in South Australian football. He turned the proud Port Adelaide Football Club into a power in Australian football. Nine premierships from 16 grand finals from the day the West Adelaide rover arrived at Alberton in 1950 has Williams stand as the patriarch of Port Adelaide. The traditions Williams established through his era continue with his sons Mark and Stephen leading the dynasty into the 21st Century. No man, no family, has had such an enduring influence on a football club extending to the culture of South Australia. Williams made South Australians either love or hate Port Adelaide, but they all admired and respected the man and his club. So strong is the Port Adelaide empire built by Williams and his family that it became irresistible to the Australian Football League. Foster Neil Williams rewrote the traditions of the Port Adelaide. Now he tells the story - of a legend, a family and the Port Adelaide Football Club. A dynasty. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
