He's, at most, naive. He's certainly not stupid. And 'thinking outside the box' comes naturally to him. But he has a little something to learn about the consequences of gravity.... ( ) A plump bear named Porker (Nasse in the original Swedish edition) discovers that pushing something uphill is far more difficult than running it downhill, after he uses the wheel-barrow he has found to set up as a taxi-driver in this picture-book from Sven Nordqvist, creator of the popular Findus & Pettson series. Unsure as to why some of his runs are so challenging, and others so easy - rabbits and anything with fur seems to take a lot of effort, while teachers and apples seem easy to transport - Porker has a number of theories to explain the difference, until his friends the rabbits step in to explain... One of two stories devoted to the humorous adventures of this befuddled bear - both have been translated into English, although I was, sadly, unable to locate a copy of the first, Porker Finds a Chair - Porker's Taxi is a book that I requested from the library by mistake, thinking it was one of Sven Nordqvist's Findus & Pettson books. I'm not sorry I had the chance to read it, however, as I found the story amusing, and think that it highlights - in an oblique and utterly non-didactic way - the importance of scientific knowledge (in this case, the concept of gravity) in understanding the world, and how it works. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
