This Is London par Miroslav Šašek (cbl_tn)
cbl_tn: Sasek's book, originally published in 1959, has been updated to reflect current information. Most of the landmarks are still famous today. Rubbino's book, first published in 2011, includes new landmarks like the London Eye that weren't around in 1959. The books nicely complement each other.… (plus d'informations)

In my opinion this is a very informational book. This book is abut a little girl and her mom that take a trip to London and visit different tourist sights. This book has a main story that carries out through the book, but it also has little informational facts on each page. I loved that about the book. For example, the little girl was hungry and her mom took her to the Covent Garden Piazza and one fact that was on the page was "Few roads in London are closed to traffic but Covent Garden Piazza is one of them."
I also enjoyed they illustrations of the book, It really brougt the story to life. ( )

The book, "A Walk in London", written by, Salvatore Rubbino, follows a young girl and her mother travel the city of London. Throughout their travel the mother informs the daughter facts about London. The mother and daughter visit famous sites of London and participate in tour guides. This is book is very informative and provides facts about the city of London. ( )

What a fun book! I felt like I was on a guided tour myself. This would be a fun "first guide book" for a child who is interested in traveling. The art was great too.

I thought this tour-guide-like story was a very interesting concept for a children's book. It's not particularly exciting or fast paced, so it might not keep the attention of every reader, but I think that children who are interested in London or are going to take a trip there would find it very useful. I like the illustrations and design that were interspersed with facts about the things and places seen.

While technically this book is realistic fiction, it could potentially be classified as informational. The only fictional elements are the fact that the girl and her mom are not real people participating in an actual event. The only story line taking place is a girl and her mother going on a walk, but while walking, the girl is giving information on the sites they are visiting. On every page, there are multiple text features that talk about the history and other fun facts about each place in London. This is great realistic fiction because it is not a very complex story line, and it features a very relatable event that can take place between a parent and a child. It would be an AWESOME book for teaching younger children about London, but it would also be really useful with older children as well.
