Thirteen-year-old Desi Bascomb is in over her head with school and landing the role of Titania in A Midsummer Night's Dream, and while her job as a substitute princess is more glamorous than ever, a secret she learns about Facade's magic could make everything simpler--or more complicated.

Another light and fun addition to the series. Perfect for fans of Jannette Rallison. ( )

REVIEW ORIGINALLY POSTED http://hobbitsies.net/wordpress/?p=3003

I read Princess for Hire and thought it was really, really cute. I read The Royal Treatment and thought it was really, really good. The Royal Treatment really takes the world we learned about in the first book and steps it up a notch – all the way to Level Two, actually.

Desi, as a character, learned a lot about herself in Princess for Hire, but she continued to grow as a character in The Royal Treatment. I loved being in her head as she dealt with a lot of moral dilemmas, with what was considered right and wrong.

I loved all the things Desi had to accomplish before being able to go on missions. Learning about royal gossip, classical music, etc – it all made the whole princess double thing way more real because Desi actually had to learn all this stuff, rather than just being good at it automatically. That was a really awesome touch.

Okay, and the ENDING. I sort of guessed at it, but I didn’t really expect it, so it was a really freaking awesome cliffhanger and now I can’t wait for the third book in the series.

Overall, The Royal Treatment is a great follow-up to Princess for Hire. I had a lot of fun reading both books and I love how the story is progressing through them. If you’re looking for a really adorable, fun, and enjoyable book, I definitely recommend this series. It’s part coming-of-age, part princess, and part magic, and it all combines into one great book. This story was really fun to read and very cute! I enjoyed it even more so than the first book in the series that introduced readers to Desi and how she is now part of a organization that uses magic to help princesses in need. In this story, Desi has upgraded to the next level of the agency which comes with more perks and more responsibilities. It's fun seeing what she has to do in her secret life and how she balances it with her real life.

I really liked going behind the scenes in Facade. I wish that I had the same powers that Desi had or just given brief access to get all the perks of working for them. While reading about Desi's adventures with the younger princess set is fun, I would have loved to get in on the stories of the older princesses like newly married Kate! I also like how within all the lightness of the story, there are some subtle serious tones as well. Desi's character is quite responsible and is eager to learn but she also has a curious streak as well which leads to some pretty big discoveries. I really like how she is now comfortable with what she is doing and spends her time enjoying herself as well as help out the girl she is replacing in times of need.

If you haven't read the first book in the series, I strongly recommend doing so because it's important to know the background of how Desi got this sweet gig. Also you learn more about her relationship with Prince Karl and why it plays into such a big factor in this story. I loved the twist at the end of story as it gives the whole concept another different meaning. I can't wait to find out what happens next in Desi's story as she discovers more about the secrets of Facade. Middle grade girls will really enjoy this light read. ( )

This book gets a royal 5 out of 5 gnomes for having Desi, a great strong-willed character with just the right amount of sarcasm and a story that will keep you guessing.

I love the magic, the mystery, and of course the traveling by bubble. I think anyone who has ever watched The Wizard of Oz has wondered what it would feel like to travel around in a bubble like Glinda. This form or travel does seem pretty glamorous but I think I'd be terrified of being in the bubble while it popped.

After the troubles from the last book which are still having an impact. Desi has to learn even more to advance and be allowed to be a Level Two princess sub. She has to do this all the while knowing that she has to prove that she won't make any more mistakes in the line of duty.

Her home life is important to who she is as a sub. It's great to read about her regular life as well as all the assignments she goes on. Also interesting is when things she's learned at home end up helping her on assignments and vice versa where being a princess gives her confidence in her real life.

She still has a mean girl/bully to deal with in the form of Celeste who used to be her best friend but now, not so much. Desi has to see more of her then she wants to because her mom is Celeste's coach for beauty pageants. This leads to tension between them but you can start to see that she might not be as horrible as Desi thinks she is. They have some issues to resolve between them but in this book you can see almost a flicker of understanding between them.

Desi is unique even at Façade, the agency that places all the princess subs, she tends to advance much faster than other subs do. The style she uses when helping her clients is very different then what the agency is used to, she gets into character extremely well.

In this book you learn a lot more about the Façade Agency and its inner workings. It's much more complex then Desi thought and she starts to see that everything is not as clear as she thought it was. You also get to see how important makeup really is to the agency and learn even more secrets about the people working there.

Meredith, the agent in charge of Desi, is once again a great character. She's as snarky as ever but has secrets to hide and quite the entertaining story arc so far. Meredith does have an abrasive personality sometimes but you can tell that she really cares about Desi succeeding.

The ending, WOW, after reading it I laughed and actually did a little happy dance. It's very nice to have a cliff hanger type ending that is hopeful and feels like a great place to stop the story for now. I like that the ending leaves you with a surprise and yet the feeling that there is plenty in store for the future. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. ( )

The Royal Treatment couldn’t be released at a better time. Right now, every young girl wants to imagine themselves as Princess Kate on her wedding day.

This series, Princess For Hire, is about a magical agency that allows ordinary girls to be trained to step in and be princesses when the need arises.

I absolutely fell in love with this story. It was funny and charming! I loved all the characters so much. This is definitely a story that every young girl should read.
