Shes a master thief as elusive as her name whose dagger is as sharp as her eyes and wits. Where theres a rich merchant to rob, good food and wine to be had, or a lusty fellow to kiss ... theres Shadow. What do the Guild of Thieves, the deadliest assassin in Allanmere, a long-vanished mage, a treacherous swamp, and a gem missing from a temple have in common? Shadow, of course. When Shadow is accused of a theft of guild-wrecking proportions, she forms an unlikely alliance with the strange immortal creature known only as Blade to find out who has framed her and the Guild of Thieves for the theft--and why. Deadly Companion When Shadow has to recover a stolen jewel from the wizard Baloran, her journey is as perilous as her destination. For only Blade can guide Shadow to the sorcerers lair ... and Blade is an assassin who takes a life as easily as she takes a breath. Shadows score with Baloran can end only in destruction. But in the final battle, will Blade be at Shadows side--or in her way?… (plus d'informations)

I always loved this book and all the author's other stories. I wish she had written more books. Her characters are approachable and yet also wonderfully foreign. The land is just obscure enough to not be ours but also familiar enough to make it believable. I love her humor and her characterization. ( )

This is part of a trilogy, the first book called "Shadow". These are...okay. Interesting world building, but not complex and deep, with amusing characters and okay plots. It's a little shallow and lacks any real pull for the reader. But, if you want a light, fun book to rest your brain, these are good. Of the trilogy, this is my favorite, only because of Blade. She's an intriguing character. ( )

Fantasy novel, sequel to Shadow, and featuring the same characters. This one is also short, not even 200 pages. A jewel is stolen from a powerful but currently struggling priesthood, and Shadow the elvan thief is the prime suspect- and the only one who knows the whereabouts of the wizard who created the gem is Blade the assassin. To complicate things further, Shadow's friend Donya, daughter of the High Lord of the city, has already set off after the wizard with a squadron of guards. This book is short and fast-moving, and I'll keep an eye out for the third one, Shadow Dance. ( )

A book that proves how a good RPG does not a good book make. A thief and a wizard have to join forces and with different motives to fight the evil bad guy. Trite but readable. Sucked me in because it has Elves!! ( )
