Boy did we hit the jackpot with this one. The story combines my son's two favorite things: costumes and cats. Henry and Mudge hang out with the lady across the street, whose father was a famous thespian. She's got 11 cats and a closet full of theater garb. Perfection. ( )

While Henry's parents are at a Sweetheart Dance on Valentine's Day, he and his dog Mudge have a wonderful time staying at Mrs. Hopper's house, where they enjoy tea and music and dressing up in various costumes.

a great first chapter book! Kids will all be able to relate to their parents leaving them somewhere when they go out. Also people sometimes think others are one way when really they aren't. Everyone has something to offer... ( )
