When Meg's best friend gets married, only a best friend can see through the nerves straight to the root of the problem. The groom is too perfect. The bride bails and Meg is expected to stick around just in case the bride changes her mind. Except Meg is a mess. Spoiled and thrown out into the world to make her way, she's clueless and penniless and wisecracking. The groom's home town rages against her for destroying the wedding of the century, but Meg has a keen insight into Mr. Perfect. I loved this story from beginning to end. My first SEP novel, and now I'm anxious to read more. I wish we could give half stars. I would call this 3-1/2. I enjoyed this book. It wasn't my favorite of SEP's but it wasn't my least favorite either. At first I wasn't sure. I didn't like Ted for quite a while. I also have a tough time when the heroine of a story gets humiliated like she did at the first there in town. But once all that kind of got smoothed over, it got better. I did think that Ted redeemed himself in the end. I really liked Meg throughout the entire story. This was the perfect "can't-put-it-down" bit of fluff for the unexpected snow day I had today, and I read the whole thing in one go. I didn't realize this was the 5th book in a series (The Wynette, Texas Series) or I would have never touched it. But I'm glad I didn't know, because it stands on its own and was charming, fun and totally enjoyable. The plot was a little preposterous, but Meg and Ted, the lovers who of course start of hating each other, were really likable; and the plot moved along at a quick and entertaining clip. The inevitable sex scenes had just enough detail to be hot but not enough to be cringe-inducing; or unintentionally funny, as I find so many of them to be. I might check out some of the earlier books in the series as I liked the author's writing style, and these characters, enough that I wouldn't mind another trip to Wynette, Texas. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

I loved Meg but Ted was kind of an ass and everyone was so MEAN to Meg in that damn town. ( )
