The fourth installment of Conn Iggulden's Mongolian series begins and ends with a heavy exhalation. The reader is catapulted into the lives and inner workings of the post Genghis Mongolian empire. As other books in the series Empire of Silver is well written. Little filler, lots of action and a little more emotion. The character of Tsubodai once again sneaks up on the reader and is cautiously and tiredly brought to the center. It seems the writer wants the reader to connect with him more so than any other players. This is not a bad thing in the least. With craft and shadow writing Iggulden latently lets us know once again, that without the Orlock the Mongolian empire would not be an empire but probably still be herding goats and chasing rabbits. But we begin to see that only now, in his twilight is he starting to think of himself and the desire to encapsulate some sort of peace of mind, far away from the blood, screams and death of all who come across the path of the armies which he leads. It is chilling to think of what could have went down, had Ogedai suffered a different fate. The world would surely be a different place and most of us reading these books would be doing so from very different angle. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
