Chargement... A Lover's Lament (édition 2015)par K.L. GraysonBeautiful. I don't really know how else to describe this book right now..it even had me tearing up a bit which almost never happens. I was completely captivated from start to finish. It alternates between the POV of two characters, Katie and Devin. Personally, I think I preferred Devin's but they are both equally amazing characters. I love the flashbacks and the letters/emails/phone calls that are included between the two of them. Devin helps her heal, and Katie gives him something more to fight (and live) for. A Lover's Lament is an emotional rollercoaster. It's an intense, sexy, and heartbreaking yet heartwarming story about second chances and forgiveness. This book deserves all the stars! Katie is mourning the loss of someone very important to her when she is re-united with a close friend serving in the military. They have been re-connected through a letter writing program to active duty military. I have been reading many books of this type, where people are connected first by writing letters or emails to each other. This one is different because the two people writing have a past together already. I really liked this one. I felt the connection between the two characters and the emotion behind their connection. I felt Katie's fear of loving Devin because of the possiblilty that she could easily lose him through the dangers of being deployed. There were some twists at the end of the story that I wasn't a fan of, but this was a still a good read. Beautifully written, emotionally draining, and a fabulous second-chance romance. Be prepared for those three things and have tissue handy. These two characters felt very real, like they could be your neighbors or friends kinda real. Definitely will be reading more from these two authors. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. |
