The narrator of this story uses each page to give birthday wishes to Alicia. She goes through the day seeing, hearing, and living out her special day. The wish for her to dance, receive hugs, and even not have to wait at stop lights, is granted. Alicia is Spanish and likes to dance to salsa music and hear the Icey man say "Helado de Coco for you". I like how her heritage was incorporated into this story and how the illustrations reflected this. ( )
