A MARK OF DISTINCTION
Honoring Children’s Literature of Exceptional Merit.
The Northern Lights Book Awards considers children’s books to be an art form and honors books that excel in aesthetic afficher plus and literary qualities with an emphasis on permanency. We are seeking works that will leave a lasting impression, stories that will resonate with the reader not only now but in years to come.
Eligibility
NLBA accepts traditionally published and self-published children’s books from around the world regardless of copyright year. Books must be printed in English. Currently, e-books are not accepted.
Judging
Our panel of judges comprises industry experts in the fields of education, publishing, and writing. The panel is interested in books that are enriching, uplifting, and promote goodwill.
Awards and Recognition
Winners are featured on our website, social media platforms, and listed in the JWC Publishing newsletter. Up to two (2) winners will be selected per category. Each winning book receives a personalized certificate and 20 award seals.
Two (2) grand prize winners will be awarded The Northern Lights Book of the Year Award in the categories of Picture Book and Middle School Book. The winners receive a certificate commemorating their achievement, a book review featured on our website, social media, and in the JWC Publishing newsletter, and 100 gold award seals.
We are open for submissions on January 15 each year. The deadline for entries is October 15. There is a 10-day grace period for packages to arrive that are postmarked October 15. The Northern Lights Book Award winners will be announced on December 15.
