This book was extremely helpful in my journey to understand the history of the U.S. in Vietnam. I feared that it might be dry and difficult to read, but found I couldn't put it down! It seems to be very well researched with extensive notes and references to further reading. If you want to better understand the details of the politics of 1945, the impact of FDR, the British, and de Gaulle and the Japanese, on Vietnam, this is a book you shouldn't miss.
