Published in French Switzerland, but in Italian, it is almost PR for Interpol, from the humble beginnings up to the 1960s, but focusing on 1950s-1960s.
Obviously: quickly running over the 1930s-1940s (for that, a book in German that I purchased on location in Berlin in 2012 is worth reading "Die Wannsee- Konferenz", as it was originally planned at the Berlin offices, according to Roseman https://www.librarything.com/work/9889/book/91928024), but in Europe nobody likes to remember that, between 1933 and 1939, many dealt with Hitler's government in a "business as usual" manner
The interesting part is that it is structured "by pattern of crime", presenting for each category some cases and the associated "itinerary"- including for cases that eventually did not involve Interpol or where it refused to intervene due to the nature of the dossier (e.g. just internal matter)
Even more interesting for an Italian: plenty of cases concern Italy 1950s-1960s, and include patterns that actually, adapted to current times (e.g. technology), were still recent news
It would be interesting to have an automated review and consolidation of dossiers across Interpol Members to identify and share patterns and "signposts" to a specific pattern
Anyway- it was a reading alternative to thriller or sci-fi bedtime reading, and interesting to consider the parts where legislative harmonization (e.g. a European Driving License) were discussed, considering the current debate on further European integration… (plus d'informations)
