I don't completely agree with the core premise of the work that there is a group of specific individuals orchestrating a grand plot that is responsible for every ill deed, killed JFK, and all the rest - that would mean that if you got rid of these people the US government and corporations would suddenly start being nice to everyone and do you really believe that?

The work sidetracks itself fixating on and exaggerating the reach and scope of the shady dealings of a few individuals, an informal 'friends network' of intelligence personnel and military officers (that even called themselves the 'Secret Team'), who were able to influence government policy for their own financial gain. Their biggest concern were things like setting up shell companies that could bid for government sweetheart contracts that they could milk for all it was worth, and maybe use it for some off the books intelligence or covert operations on the side to justify it, not world domination.

But it is an interesting read.

An unfortunate postscript to this comic is that allowing itself to get sidetracked and unable to back its claims of an all encompassing conspiracy is why the Christic Institutes case was thrown out.… (plus d'informations)

Ciò che era anticipato con l'episodio di "Real War Stories", prende finalmente corpo in un graphic novel per la Eclipse sotto la direzione di Joyce Brabner: Shadowplay - The secret team, con la collaborazione di Bill Sienkiewicz. La storia vuole denunciare nel loro complesso la serie delle attività illecite svolte dalla CIA dal 1945 a oggi. Avvalendosi della grande capacità immaginifica di Sienkiewicz, Moore costruisce un documento di denuncia oggettivo e simbolico, le metafore ancora nascoste hanno qui l'opportunità di mostrarsi in tutta la loro significazione, e possono decadere dal piano letterario-simbolico per gettare in pieno volto al lettore la verità di cui sono portatrici. Il sogno americano è interamente corrotto tanto che la stessa aquila reale, con la quale l'America si è sempre identificata, è ingiallita dalla nicotina delle sigarette ed è costretta a svolgere il ruolo di un commesso viaggiatore, la cui merce consiste nei servizi criminosi compiuti dai servizi segreti statunitensi. Nella ventiquattrore dell'aquila ci sono solo frattaglie sparse e marciume, che strabordano nel tentativo di raggiungere noi lettori, gli osservatori, gli estranei che sembrano risvegliarsi solo ora da un sogno (quello americano appunto).… (plus d'informations)
