I liked this book until the end. A quirky and sometimes fantastic tale of two siblings looking for a drug dealing uncle in New York, whom they have never met. The crazy situations they get themselves into and the weird people they meet along the way keep this fast paced story moving and on the edge of you seat. It does contain some language and Rat the main character calls several people pedophiles so I would keep this book for middle grade students. ( )

Uno dei libri più belli letti in questi ultimi anni. Personaggi indimenticabili. Avrei preferito il lieto fine ma se l'autore ha deciso così... ( )

This was good. It took a different turn than I expected and I liked it for the most part, but it was a little strange also. Bob and his sister Marie Claire take a road trip from Canada to New York to look for their uncle, whom they've never met or heard about until after their father's unexpected death. Not wanting to be separated, they hide his death from the authorities and take off with just a little bit of money, bikes, and a picture of their uncle. They also have Marie Claire's unusual foresight and propensity to quickly make devoted friends. New York is not only full of friends, though, and they run into some serious danger. Does it all turn out all right? As I said in the beginning, the story takes some unexpected turns. ( )

I really enjoyed this book, I think it would appeal to young readers, but there are some dark undertones to the book. ( )

Bob and his sister, Marie Claire (known as the Rat) leave their home in Winnipeg after their father dies, in search of their uncle in New York City. All they know is that he is a big-time drug dealer. Meeting up with and befriending grifters, con men, fifth avenue doormen and a rap star, they take on New York. ( )
