This book is loaded with lots of helpful information for any woman who is pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant and has diabetes too. As a woman who is predispositioned to get diabetes I found a lot of the information not only helpful but things that I have never even heard before. ( )

I'm not gonna lie. I got this book from earlier reviews because i'm going to open a bookstore when i graduate from college. I sort of read it as in i read the back of the book and like the first few pages, but i'm a 20 year old male, so this isn't exactly my thing. But, from what I've read from teh other reviews, this book is apparently Pretty good. So yeah.

Diabetics have always had to know how to control their blood sugars, but what if you are female and pregnant, or want to get pregnant? What will pregnancy do to blood sugar levels What have other women experienced? Author Cheryl Alkon has written this thoughtful and comprehensive book to help you through the process of pregnancy, from planning through to the breast-feeding process. And even if you do all you can, infertility and miscarriage are real problems that arise and the author hhelps you to understand why. The book is laid out in such a way as to connect other women with the reader by their telling their experiences and viewpoints. Together they offer valuable personal and collective knowledge abut how to optimize diabetic control. A must reading for anyone contemplaing pregnancy with pre-existing diabetes. This is a resource that neither judges someone wanting to get pregnant nor scares them out of it.. Author Aikon has lived with type 1 diabetes for more than 30 years and brings a wealth of understanding to the subject. I highly recommend this book, which is full of the latest scientific research, to all female diabetics who have the desire to be a healthy mom having a healthy baby. ( )

My wife and I read this book after she was diagnosed with gestational diabetes while pregnant with our son. The author says in the preface that she did not write this book for people with gestational diabetes but we still found it quite helpful. The book was very well written and researched and we found the information helpful despite the fact that we were not the "target" audience. I would reccomend to anyone in our situation. ( )

I wish I would have had this book when I was pregnant with my children. So much helpful information throughout this book. I actually found some good tips to use, even when you aren't pregnant. As a type 1 diabetic it is so hard to find useful information. I loved the fact that the author understands that everyone is different and different things work for different people. The best book concerning diabetes that I personally have ever read. Highly Recommended! ( )
