None of the other "Little House Years" books are as good as the ones about Laura but other then the Laura books I prefer the Martha and Charlotte books. I don't enjoy the Caroline books as much because they are a bit uneven for me with some in the series being really good and others lacking. ( ) I think the paperbacks of these would be the better to own, as they have the family tree. For a long time here I was confused about which brother was older, despite having read the first three Caroline books already. This is *not* a stand-alone. I do appreciate that Caroline is much more interesting finally, and that there are some serious community issues discussed such as Camp Meeting, for example. I now have to get the next from the library though because not much happened about Martha here and she had been the one with the most interesting potential. Btw, I did the math - I expect Thomas grew up to serve in the Civil War, maybe Joseph too. Caroline and her family are adjusting to living in Concord, and things are coming together. Caroline's mother marries Mr. Holbrook, and the family has to adjust to a new "Pa." This is a happy addition however, and the family struggles through helping to build a mill, a cholera epidemic, and an early frost. Everything comes together at last, however, and the family finds themselves stronger than before. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
