As one review stated; this is a "nail-biting, fast-paced chase, through the wilds of Russia" story. I think that describes it pretty well. American medical missionary Sarai Curtiss has watched a young patient die and she can't determine the cause. She finds herself in the middle of a coup in the middle of Russia and all Americans have a small window of time to get out. (And everyone who knows Sarai knows she won't leave.) So Roman Novik, a rebel Cobra Captain who years ago fell in love with this woman, is asked to go and get her. It will be a real challenge for Roman to keep her safe, when Sarai tries to flee every time he turns around, and both of them can't seem to admit how much they care for each other.

There is a lot going on in this story. There is the evil leadership, the possible epidemic of sick people, and the saving of Sarai, and later Roman's, lives. It keeps you on your toes. I did get a little irritated at times near the end, when Sarai just couldn't trust Roman and always made it so hard on him. Made me want to give up on her, but in the end, her eyes will finally see what she needs and what she has with a guy like Roman. Looking forward to reading book 3 in this series. ( )
