Although the story starts slowly and builds, the middle and end provide edge-of-your-seat action. I loved the way Kelsey pursued training in martial arts to prepare her for the upcoming quest. So often, the main character takes on challenges he/she is ill prepared for and comes out without a scratch. It was nice to see Kelsey realizing her shortcomings and doing something to prepare.

I also found the locations in the book fascinating. The Oregon landmarks with which I was familiar (yay Burgerville and Tillamook!)and the exotic Indian locales.

We got to know Kishan much better in this book and, although I personally wanted him to back off a bit in his pursuit of Kelsey, he set himself up as a strong competitor for her affections. Ren has his work cut out for him.

Looking forward to seeing what happens in the next book. ( )
