The Middle Kingdom was a time of unprecedented splendor, as regional potentates were lavished with rewards and buried in a style befitting royalty. Tomb 10A was prepared for one such potentate, and its treasures survived World War I, a ship's fires, and nearly a century of basement storage.
A lavishly-illustrated publication to accompany the fantastic MFA exhibit by the same name. Excellent contextual historical and technical information about the tomb and its contents. Slightly over-jargoned, perhaps, but if you can get by that, I expect you'll probably enjoy this. ( )

"SINCE ITS DISCOVERY IN 1915 by members of the Harvard University—Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition, tomb 10A of Deir el-Bersha has been heralded worldwide for yielding the largest assemblage of material ever found in a single Middle Kingdom burial. Although certain spectacular objects from the tomb, such as a painted coffin and a delicately carved procession of offering figures, could be introduced to the public immediately, the majority of its contents had suffered badly from the ravages of ancient grave robbers and could not be shown. Only now, nearly one hundred years later and thanks to curators and conservators working together, has it been possible to bring the material back to life. We are pleased to present the treasures of tomb 10A in their entirety and reveal their many mysteries for the very first time." (Malcolm Rogers)
