Zane gets in even more trouble with Dr. Gristle. Would kids even get the humor in the doctor's name? Zane character becomes more developed in this installment. By the end of the book he's showing some spunk and sarcasm. Parts of the plot might be confusing to readers especially when his personality changes as Alfalfa aka Dr. Gristle tries to brainwash him. Zane lives in a world where everything is wired and microchipped. His bedroom talks to him, his anklet tells him his temperature, if he has to go to the bathroom, and when he needs to do it. Dogs can even talk via a microchip.

After thwarting Dr. Gristle's evil plans to use animals against the human race to control them, his success ticks off people in power and he finds himself locked away for two months in an electronically-bolted room. They only let him out for appointments, chores, and other guardian-approved activities.

Once he's finally released from his prison, Zane is excited to thoroughly enjoy his freedom. Dr. Gristle is not dead, however, and is out for revenge. Using Zane's own dog, Hugo, against him, the doctor tries to use mind control on Zane to get him to help him take over the world. Zane, at first, doesn't realize what's happening - until strange things like evil, flying monkeys start appearing everywhere.

Dr. Gristle claims he's on the same side as Zane, but Zane's not so sure. Can he figure out what's going on before it's too late?

An excellent addition to the CYBERIA series. Although some of the characters aren't as believable as others, they do seem well-developed and still add a lot to the story. The plot does a great job of holding the reader's interest. Those who like science fiction, adventure, and superhero-type books will enjoy reading MONKEY SEE, MONKEY DON'T. ( )
