What Drake didn't know was that his fiance had not died. She was badly injured and had to go through reconstructive surgery. She changed her name so that the drug lord wouldn't find her and try to kill her.
When Victoria, going by the name of Sandy, was paired up with Drake to go on a goverment mission to rescue a little girl, she knew immediately who he was but he didn't know who she was. But eventually, he started to recognize the similarities between his Victoria and this Sandy.
Of course, Drake figures things out but the drug lord also figures out that Drake is in love with a woman again and now he wants Sandy dead.
The book was good and we already know, happy ending! ( )
