The story overall was very good however the ending wasn't spectacular. it's like it was meant to be a continuation instead of actually finishing the story ( ) What a very odd book but this one line must be saved for all eternity ""Ah, I've done that," said the girl, "and I know how many comforts I could buy for the dear Major. Also I'd like to go to a girl's college, like Smith or Wellesley, and get a proper education. "" Say what? Otherwise, this is the first of a series of what are called girl's stories written under the van Dybe named by none other than L. Frank Baum. If this is what kid's books were like in 1906, I don't wonder he tried his hand at the Oz books. I'm trying to imagine what the rest of the series could be but I think I will give them a try out. Anyway, it's oddly moralistic but much better than Madge Morton. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

HTML: Inspired by Louisa May Alcott's Little Women, this book, which Wizard of Oz author L. Frank Baum wrote under the pen name Edith Van Dyne, is much in the same vein as Alcott's cozy coming-of-age tale. The first in a series, the story of this novel follows three nieces who are summoned to their wealthy aunt's estate so she can decide to whom she will bequeath her sizable inheritance. Although the girls couldn't be more different personality-wise, a series of calamities brings them closer together. Aunt Hane's Nieces is a delightful read for fans of classic young adult fiction. .Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
