Would have liked more of a story for the kids than ill placed lectures on recycling. ( )Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. Not at all what I was expecting. I was hoping this book would be a comprehensive way for kids to learn about easy ways they can "go green," but I found none of that in this book. Look elsewhere if you want to educate your kids on the subject. Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. My children liked reading this book. The funny comment my son (9 years old) made was that a book about going green wasn't printed on recycled paper using soy ink. He had a problem with that part of it. My 7 year old daughter did the reading to my 4 year old daughter, so she had fun with the rhyming. Honestly, I didn't read it until afterwards (they found and read the book before I could get to it), so, when I did read it, I was not happy with the commercialism or dictatorial tone. I give it a one star, my children a three. So, to split the difference, 2 stars. Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. Even though the intentions of this book might be right, it is the most horrendous and propagandistic book I have ever read about how to care of our environment. It doesn't have any story line, no adventure as it claims it has, but just a poor rhyming about how to be green by buying "eco" product that might cost an arm and a leg. It doesn't have any realistic appeal to drive a hybrid car to see Hollywood movie stars when people cannot afford this type of car. And since when Hollywood and movie stars endorse so fearless the environment? What would it mean for a kid to be happy that they can wear a "carbon-free-shirt"? This series has to have an extreme makeover in order to make the cut. Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. This book wasn't what I was expecting. I'm all for putting difficult to grasp material in a format that children will understand, but the sing-song-ey, rhyme-y method used in this book just wasn't all that good. Additionally, MANY of the ways we can all do our part to reduce our impact on the environment and be more sustainable were left out - I'm sure they were "saved" for future books. The illustrations were beautiful and I very much liked the "glossary" at the end. I also didn't much care for the "endorsements" at the back of the book. Sure, it makes you aware of some of the "green" companies out there, but at the same time it felt like a commercial to me. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
