Ava Tree and the Wishes Three is a short chapter book about an eight-year old girl named Ava who discovers that she can make three wishes a day that all come true. In the beginning of the book, Ava's parents die in a car accident, and Ava wonders whether she can wish her parents back to life. This story is a mix of reality and fantasy, and is both funny and sad.

summary: Ava makes a wish on her birthday and she is surprised to see that the next day her wish came true! She discovers that she may have wishing powers!

classroom connection: This would be a fun book for read aloud. I think it would really grab the students attention. The idea of a birthday wish coming true is so fun for kids!

This is a sweet story that has great illustrations. I really like the way this book is told and the pictures. I think children would be interested in this book, and would like to have it read, or read it themselves.

This is about a young girl who's parents have died and her older brother takes care of her. It is Eva's birthday and she decided to have a backwards birthday. Everyone wears their clothes backward, talk backward etc. Magical things happen on her birthday, and she gets wishing power. She wishes good things for people and they come true. She wishes something bad on someone and something bad happened to her. The moral is that is although sad things happen in life there is still magic and imagination out there.

This book is a delight in it's storytelling ability, with it's beautiful illustrations and funny prediciments. Very inventive.
