After Alex has trouble falling asleep, his father tells him a “guaranteed-to-put-anyone-to-sleep” bedtime story. He tells a story about a little walking into the jungle in his pajamas. In the jungle, the boy drinks plenty of water and rests. The thingamajig monster notices the little boy and chases him through the trees. The brave little boy climbs higher and higher up a pooa-pooa tree until he was so high that he could touch the moon. A shooting star passes picking up the boy and allowing him to soar through the clouds. A breeze carries him home. He goes in his window, climbs into his bed, and closes his eyes. When Alex’s father looks at him, he is in bed with his eyes closed. He kisses Alex on the forehead and tiptoes out the room. A touching book about the bond between a child and a parent, and also how a bedtime story can be full of creativity and imagination. ( )

A good book to read in Kindergarden right before nap time. Get the students to name everything Alex did before he went to sleep.
