Little Mouse was a new read for me. Little mouse was dropped by an owl and hermit took her in as a daughter. Years went on and it was time for Little mouse to get married. When asked who she wanted to marry she replied, "I want to marry the strongest of them all" Little mouse and hermit went out to find the strongest. For example, they went to the sun, the wind, and the clouds and they all claimed they were not the strongest. They then ran into another mouse and he was the strongest ever. The two mice got married and lived happily ever after. The theme of this story would be that the best things can often found in something small. In order for something to be great it does not have to be big it can be found in little things. I think the text was lively and keeps the reader engaged. It keeps the reader engaged because we want to know who she will marry. ( )

A hermit comes across a little mouse and vows to care for her as if she was his daughter. The hermit sets off on an adventure to find his "daughter" the strongest suitor to marry her. After starting at the sun and moving through clouds and mountains he comes across the strongest of them all, a mouse. The mice were married and had other mice for the hermit to be a grandfather to. This book shows that you do not have to be big to be the "strongest". ( )

"Little Mouse" is the story of a little mouse that was raised by an old hermit. When the little mouse grows old enough to marry she requested the strongest mouse on earth. She searched everywhere and she still couldn't find the strongest mouse. The mountain tells her the one knocking down the mountain is the strongest mouse. She finds him and they get married and live happily ever after. The theme is perseverance and that is key in getting what you want. ( )

After finding a little mouse one day, a hermit takes her in as a daughter. As the years go by, the hermit tells the mouse that she is almost grown and should find a husband. The little mouse says, "I would want to marry the strongest being on earth." Together, they visit the sun, moon, wind, and mountains until they find the strongest one. Hidden inside the mountain is a little male mouse who they claim is the strongest. The two mice get married and together have a family, and they all live happily together. Colorful illustrations show the hermit and mouse's journey as they go to find her a mate. Looking closely, the hermit is drawn to resemble the mouse with his long exaggerated nose. Natural elements such as animals and floral are also in the background illustrations. Being that the strongest one is a little mouse, it leaves the message that looks can be deceiving. A wonderful feel good story that will put a smile on any reader's face. ( )

Little mouse is a wonderful story written by Lida Dijkstra and illustrated by Piet Grobler. This book tells the story about a hermit who takes in a little mouse. The Hermit raises the little mouse as his own daughter and after a couple of years, decides it is time for her to marry. And so the adventure begins searching for a groom who is the strongest being on earth. I believe the style of this story was to entertain. Some imagery is used in this story. For example, “his hair blowing and his beard flapping” was used to describe the hermits visit to the wind. There was also a point when the author used figurative language to describe how he was going to take care of the little mouse “You can stay with me, and I will take care of you as if you were my own daughter”. There was no alliteration, exaggeration, or any devices of sound. ( )
