I remember with some affection his Outsider cycle. Then as now he is notable for his breadth of coverage and the doors that he opens on writers you might never encounter otherwise. Super Consciousness was a treat and I read it from cover to cover very quickly and with interest. Some of the themes tackled in the Outsider were revisited and advanced. Wilson remains an optimist and I thank him for that. Particularly striking is his positioning of Beckett which he tackles in a chapter entitled The Paradoxes of Nihilism; and there is an unmissable assessment of philosophy. Wilson says what I want to hear and he says it in a very readable way. In his last paragraph (before the Postscript), Wilson talks about catching "a glimpse of another level". All those years ago, when reading The Outsider, he helped me do this and I have followed his lead ever since. With Super Consciousness he adds some practical advice for achieving this. I applaud his tenacity over the years. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
. Soon after Colin Wilson became aware of this phenomena in the 1960s he wondered about its history and how its power could be harnessed, thus began a 40 year investigation. In "SUPERCONSCIOUSNESS" we see how such luminaries as Yeats, Blake, Satre, Nietzche and Robert Graves were all effected by PE's and how on the opposite side it has long been noted that we are least insightful when we are at our lowest ebb. By looking in detail through the different areas where this phenomena has occurred and offering anecdotes and examples of how many people in history (as well as himself) were effected Wilson reveals a pattern of insight with emotions. He ends the book with an instructional section on achieving power consciousness for yourself. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
