This edition has 769 hymns and was printed by Hayman Bros. and Lilly, Cross St., Hatton Garden. It is pocket size and nicely bound with small gilt devices on spine and covers. The Supplement advertisement is dated London, Nov. 9 1830, and first hymn in Supplement is number 561. In the original preface by Wesley he refers to the purpose for the collection: 'What we want is, a Collection not too large, that it may be cheap and portable; nor too small, that it may contain a sufficient variety for all ordinary occasions'. This is it - 'not so large as to be either cumbersome or expensive; and it is large enough to contain such a variety of hymns as will not soon be worn threadbare'. There is a frontispiece, a portrait of John Wesley, signature beneath. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
