He was--still is--the love of her life. Now, more than a year after Andrew's death, Emily Martin discovers eleven letters he'd left for her. Letters that relive the joy they found together. Letters that recall the early days of their marriage, the births of their babies, their happiness as parents. Andrew's final wish is that Emily cherish their past but move beyond it. She's not sure she can. But the birth of her daughter's baby brings Emily a new sense of purpose and hope. And her neighbor Sam--also widowed, also ready to move on with his life--shows her that new love is possible. As Andrew knew all along...… (plus d'informations)

This book was a surprise to me as the H&H were in their 60s. The cover is deceiving. Not a bad read but not what I was looking for in my category romances. You might know some people in their 70s or 80s who are young at heart and act it; while some people in their 40s or 60s act much older than their years - that's how I felt about this book, this author, this story. The author's age matters not but the writing style felt 'older' to me, like the characters were plodding along in their lives. This book is in direct contrast to the book (Harlequin) I'm now reading in which the H&H are in their 50s (he's 57) but the writing style is soooo different from MacLean's. Yes, the plots are much different but I can't help but wonder what the author of my current read would do with the plot of BABY IN HER ARMS.

Also, in the MacLean book it was difficult to figure out just HOW old the H&H were - there were vague references to the 1970s but she seemed to contradict herself a time or two which confused me more. I can only wonder if she had some sort of timeline in her head and couldn't keep it straight. Not an author I'll read again. ( )
